Moncton Minor Hockey IP caps off 2011 -2012 Season WIth Pizza Party
MMHA: Moncton Minor Hockey caps off a great season with a series of mini games and a year end pizza party held May 25th for the Initiation Level. Check out our Initiation Level Playlist. If your team is not there yet, check back as there's tons of footage from the 2011 - 2012 season that will be uploaded over the next few weeks.
The gap between the teams narrowed significantly as the season progressed. This is a credit to the coaching staffs and persistence of the young players who, based on their enthusiasm at today's event, had a fun filled year of hockey.

I'm On Fire!
Never Pour Gas on a Fire: Another Example of "What Not to do!" Compliments of Yours Truly!
Yes, I said it and so did the local Times & Transcript. "You can take the boy out of the country but you can't take the country out of the boy." I'm not sure who to credit for that old quote but it applies in this case. When I was a young lad and much to the dismay of the local volunteer fire department, spring weather would bet the catalyst for a rash of spring grass fires. Did I say rash? In the current case, I did not intend to have a grass fire in the city limits. It goes like this:
1. Beautiful Evening - decided to have a small camp fire in a metal pot.
2. After everyone left, there was a big left over piece of wood that I decided needed to be consumed.
3. Oh, that old Gas in my nostalgic old Irving gas can from back home.
4. I should get rid of that gas!
I did and "ass", I mean as (probably right the first time) I got rid of the gas, I got rid of the can, the field, part of my old truck and a lot of skin on my left leg. And to all you kids out there, young and old: As the fire chief rightly says; "NEVER PLAY WITH FIRE"!
My Sincere Thank You's "AND Apologies" go out to all the passers by who stopped to help, concerned neighbours (neighbors - Americans), First Responders - MFD and last but not least, the TV Quality all Female Ambulance Crew (they'll get this one). OH! Almost Forgot - the
immediate attention given to me by Dr. Walsh and her fine crew at the Moncton City Hospital.

TIME MACHINE - A Quantum Jump
QUANTUM JUMP:
I was channel surfing during an electrical storm when, suddenly, my TV went to a scrambled picture. IT WAS THEN, that the QUANTUM EVENT occurred. I quickly hit the record button as I was thrust backwards in time to the year 1988. Amidst friends but into heated battle, I soldiered on. All while on the mend from a broken ankle, held together by only a stainless steel screw. It was at the hands of Geary's "Hulk Hogan" (Ed Hogan), that I had missed nearly 8 weeks of hockey. I hope you enjoy the journey backwards nearly a quarter century, when Madonna was Queen and music videos were in their infancy.

Milton Jerome opens for Murray McLauchlan
A big fan of Murray McLauchlan back in the day, Moncton's Milton Jerome will open for Murray McLauchlan at the Moncton Press Club tomorrow night at 8:00 pm. Unofficial word has the show sold out but insiders say there may still be a handful of the tickets available at Frank's Music. The twelve time Juno Award winning McLauchlan has just released a new album, his first in 15 years.

AtlanticBands.com Responds to CBC news release - RE: Oliver Soaps closing at Chocolate River Station
Atlantic Bands RESPONSE TO CBC Radio News Storey at 8:30 a.m. Sept. 27th, 2010
We are only involved with the Murray McLauchlan Show. An announcement for a new venue, to replace Chocolate River Station, will come this week. Unfortunately, we've had to find this information out via a sign on the door at Oliver Soaps. I had earlier been told, in a phone call to the Town of Riverview's Shane Thompson, that Oliver Soaps was moving out at the end of September. Mr. Thompson had not ruled out using the venue for the McLauchlan show but did not follow up as promised and has not returned our email inquirie(s). It is our firm belief that Concert promoter Don Coleman has been working very hard to make sure that all concerts, previously slated for Chocolate River, go ahead in alternative venues
Sept. 28, 2011 UPDATE: Don Coleman has confirmed the Moncton PRESS CLUB will host the October 19th Murray McLauchlan Event. All previously sold tickets will be honored at the new venue.
