A big fan of Murray McLauchlan back in the day, Moncton's Milton Jerome will open for Murray McLauchlan at the Moncton Press Club tomorrow night at 8:00 pm. Unofficial word has the show sold out but insiders say there may still be a handful of the tickets available at Frank's Music. The twelve time Juno Award winning McLauchlan has just released a new album, his first in 15 years.

AtlanticBands.com Responds to CBC news release - RE: Oliver Soaps closing at Chocolate River Station
Atlantic Bands RESPONSE TO CBC Radio News Storey at 8:30 a.m. Sept. 27th, 2010
We are only involved with the Murray McLauchlan Show. An announcement for a new venue, to replace Chocolate River Station, will come this week. Unfortunately, we've had to find this information out via a sign on the door at Oliver Soaps. I had earlier been told, in a phone call to the Town of Riverview's Shane Thompson, that Oliver Soaps was moving out at the end of September. Mr. Thompson had not ruled out using the venue for the McLauchlan show but did not follow up as promised and has not returned our email inquirie(s). It is our firm belief that Concert promoter Don Coleman has been working very hard to make sure that all concerts, previously slated for Chocolate River, go ahead in alternative venues
Sept. 28, 2011 UPDATE: Don Coleman has confirmed the Moncton PRESS CLUB will host the October 19th Murray McLauchlan Event. All previously sold tickets will be honored at the new venue.

U2 Moncton - 360 Tour Random Footage - One
Now a great memory, bringing U2 to Moncton obviously started as a deam for someone. Mud and rain aside, this world class event, by all accounts was a huge success. Even the likes of U2 made some new fans during the past couple of days. I know because I'm one of them. This song in particular hit home for me. So much so that I've put together a "dream theme" video using some random footage from the concert along with an acoustic cover of "One". I hope you enjoy!
U2 on Magnetic Hill - World Class Event
The U2 360 Tour Grand Finally at the Magnetic Hill Concert Site in Moncton NB, Canada was by most observations, a world class event. The "EVENT" featured every thing from an F18 Fly By to an out of this world conversation-collaboration with Mark Kelly floating weightless in the international space station. Heavy rains didn't seem to dampen enthusiasm and most fans were prepared for the ensuing mud fest. Bono made a lot of new fans and reconnected with old ones. The U2 segment was more of a love in than the typical high energy rock show Atlantic Canadian Fans have become accustomed to. All said, most people seem to enjoy the spectacle with the exception of those life long complainers. You know who you are, "laugh out lowd", as I was with one of them.
Way to go Atlantic Canada! We Rock!

Insurance Elevator Pitch - A Keeper
Sometimes a catchy phrase just sticks with you. The fact that my brother Doug kept it going over the years has certainly helped but I can still hear this disability insurance salesman's deep radio style voice; "The president of the company says" and then the pitch. After quickly going through a long list of qualifying questions, he would ask; "do you want to hear the good news?" Of course we do was the expected reply. "You Qualify". If anyone knows the name of this Combine Insurance Agent that would have been travelling around the Fredericton area back in the 1980s, please refresh my memory as we'd like to give him credit.
Today, the elevator pitch is more of a story and not so polished. All said, what is your elevator pitch? We'd love to hear it or one that you like to remember from back in the day.

Hidden Paridise
Sunsets & Sunrises that will leave you breathless...
Both vacationers and seasonal campers describe Silver Sands as a "hidden paridise". Most lots have an ocean view and are more than double the size of the average campground. Vacationers from around the world have visited with many returning year after year. Silver Sands is located just outside of Cape Pele NB in the centre of Atlantic Canada and is approximately 30 minutes from the hub city of Moncton NB, the Nova Scotia boarder and the Confederation Bridge to Prince Edward Island. While lots are fully serviced, washrooms and showers are available to all. Most importantly, Silver Sands features a beaultiful private beach with gorgeous sunsets and even more beautiful sunrises for the early riser.

METALICA CONCERT: Butts holds gun to Mackay's Head
Metallica Concert - Up in the Air? Dick Butts holds Harold Mackay to ransom while attempting to circumvent legal agreement to right off debt.
The approach that Halifax City Counsel is taking at this late point in the game is laughable.

2011 RHS Grad Assembly Floyd Tribute
The Pink Floyd title, "Time" was very fitting for the last assembly of the 2010 - 2011 RHS Students. Riverview High School Grade 12 Students Pierce McAllister, Matt Jenkins (Base) and Grade 11 students Josh Parkinson (Drums) & Richard White (Keys) teamed up with 2010 graduate Nick McAllister, whose guitar sounded a lot like David Gilmore's, in the RHS Floyd's tribute. Lead vocalist Pierce McAllister recently received accolades for penning a song for the 2011 NB Safe Grad winning video. Guitarist, Matt & Drummer Josh were also involved in the project.

Burtts Corner Cow Path - Montreal Zumba
Back in 1973, four Burtt's Corner Boys performed an original at a Keswick Valley School assembly. They called themselves the Boom Boom Brothers. Could it have been the beginnings of the boy band trend? Was this early rap?
For shits & giggles, I through together this audio track (my son said: Dad, don't ever do this again) and added it to a video I shot in Montreal last fall. This goes out to my friends in Burtt's Corner with a special thanks to the other Boom Boom Brothers Richard, Graham and Kelvin. Great times!

Riverview Winterlude - Sliding
RIVERVIEW WINTERLUDE: Lots of people from greater Moncton, NB (Canada, not USA, lol), enjoyed a weekend filled with family fun. Sliding, snowboarding, horse drawn sleigh rides, a pancake breakfast and fireworks were just some of the events held during the annual event.
